New horror game Fobia is Outlast with guns

New horror game Fobia: Fobia: St Dinfna Hotel, a new horror game by the makers of Five Nights at Freddy’s and Among Us, is based on Outlast, but with more firearms. From what we’ve seen so far, Fobia is a first-person horror game similar to Outlast but with shotgun decapitations, and it’s currently available on Steam.

When you play as Fobia’s protagonist, a newbie journalist tasked with investigating the namesake St Dinfna hotel — which is rumored to be haunted — you’ll be working with the same publisher that published Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach and Among Us. What is going on is eerie, and you must collect clues and utilize them to solve increasingly difficult riddles as the hotel’s design changes and your opponents become half cyberpunk, half Lovecraftian nightmare. The trailer, which you can watch below, is pure survival horror.

Additionally, you’ll see a handheld camera in the game itself. Like Outlast, which just set a new speedrun world record, this acts as your viewfinder and night vision, allowing you to discover the hotel’s actual nature and navigate its oppressive, black hallways.

But unlike Amnesia or Blair Witch, this isn’t a run-and-hide horror. There are a variety of firearms at your disposal in Fobia if you find yourself in a tight spot or if you’re feeling really daring. As long as you can get a headshot with the double barrel and spray the walls with bright red blood, this is a great addition to the existing genre fare.

You may download a free demo of Fobia from the Steam store if you want to see whether it’s right for you before you buy. What we’ve seen so far has us excited to see how all the decade’s most popular horror films are brought together in one film.
